A Blinding Boost in Operational Capacity at Decora

September saw the opening of Decora Blind System’s new custom built manufacturing facility boosting capacity by 66000 sq ft. The new premises will accommodate a further 80-100 office, production and warehouse staff.

Over the past two years Decora has experienced unprecedented growth with staff numbers increasing by 80%. To facilitate increased customer orders production areas had to be increased.  The new build project commenced early this year and will increase production capacity of Decora’s Sun Living range incorporating Sunwood, Sunvent, Sunpleat and Sunweave, by nearly 20% initially with the ability to increase this along with demand over the next 5 years.

A total of £3.4 million has been invested into the new 66000 sq ft premises with the addition of 2 additional production lines for Sunwood, 3 new gantries, 1 new cutting saw, 1 75m driven conveyer, 224 additional warehousing bays and space for over 70 office staff. A computer upgrade has also been introduced which utilises the current Blind Data software. This upgrade enables full traceability stock throughout the manufacturing process.

Stuart Dickson, Managing Director, is delighted about the expansion “The new facility focuses solely on our ever expanding Sun Living range of  products. The transition of stock and production was extremely efficient as our head office is in close proximity. We are managing the move in a number of stages, all of which will be complete by mid October.”
